Behavioral and Mental Health The topic is: Behavioral health encompasses “behavioral factors in chronic illness care, care of physical symptoms associated with stress rather than diseases, and health behaviors, as well as mental health and substance abuse conditions and diagnoses.” (AHRQ 2013) This resource presents a curated collection of websites, data sources and documents from high quality government and not-for-profit sources, to inform researchers, practitioners and policymakers addressing such topics as access, cost and financing, quality and outcomes, organization, distribution, utilization of behavioral health care services, with particular focus on integrated behavioral health care: "… primary care and behavioral health clinicians, working together with patients and families, using a systematic and cost-effective approach to provide patient-centered care for a defined population. This care may address mental health and substance abuse conditions, health behaviors (including their contribution to chronic medical illnesses), life stressors and crises, stress-related physical symptoms, and ineffective patterns of health care utilization." Mental health policy defines the vision for the mental health population,which includes manage,prevent and rehabilitation for mental and neurological disorders..It coordinate with needed services and activities to provide treatment and care to prevent inefficiency and fragmentation in the health system..policy consist of strategies and activity to manage mental disorder and associated disability..
Mental health policy is a government statement has vision,values,principles and objective to achieve the goal..To be more effective,the policy must have strategies and activities to implement the policy..it should develop through an inclusive process,with best practice principles for services quality with budgeting,financing and health information..
Public mental health in health promotion it is lacking strategic power..public health policies are not strong,it has serious methodological challenges..fragmentation of psychiatric service like social welfare afflict many health care system..There is treatment discontinuation and neglect of specific risk groups..Innovation intervention help address the problem with patient-centered care in mental health services..It has greater challenges in funding ,human resources and administration..There is large disparities in population coverage rate between high and low income countries..future efforts should be made not only in health care policy but also in promoting policy implementation..
