Answer #1

1. A transformer works with
AC Current [ because changing current is required for magnetic induction to work]

2. The input side of the transformer is known as
Primary

3. The iron core transfers
magnetism [ the iron core is the conduit for magneti flux, which is the magnetism]

4. The changing magnetic flux through the secondary coil creates
electricity [ the changing magnetic flux actually creates potential difference, and this potential difference causes current to flow if the circuit is complete in the secondary coil]

5. The current flowing through the primary coil creates :
magnetism [ it is the reverse of what happens in the secondary coil]

6. The primary coil has less turns, this means its a step up transformer and increases voltage
hence compared to secondary coil, the primary coil has less voltage
less voltage

7. The primary coil has less turns, this means its a step up transformer and increases voltage
hence compared to secondary coil, the primary coil has less voltage,
now, for same power lower voltage means higher current as VI is contant (power transmitted by primary = power recieved by secondary, in case of an ideal transformer)
more current

8. The primary coil has less turns, this means its a step up transformer and increases voltage
hence compared to secondary coil, the primary coil has less voltage
compared to one turn of secondary coil, ideally one turn in primary has same voltage, as same induction is connecting both the coils
Same magnetic flux

9. A transformer uses :
soft iron core

10. AC is usually transmitted at
hundreds of kilovolts (like 110 kV, 440 kV etc )

Learning Goal: To understand the concepts explaining the operation of transformers. One of the advantages of alternating current (ac) over direct current (dc) is the ease with which voltage levels can be increased or decreased. Such a need is alwayspresent due to the practical requirements of energy distribution. On the one hand, the voltage supplied to the end users must be reasonably low for safety reasons(depending on the country, that voltage may be 110 volts, 220 volts, or some other value...
