Answer #1

10)Original cost is $28000 and the new cost is $21000. The decrease in cost will be the difference between these two, that is

Decrease =OriginalCost-NewCost=28000-21000=7000

Ratio of decrease to original cost = Decrease/OriginalCost = 7000/28000=7/28=1/4 = 1:4 will be the ratio

11)

The increase in cost will be the difference of the new cost and the original cost. The new cost is $200, and the original cost is $160.
Increase= NewCost-OldCost=200-160=40

The percentage increase will be given by the formula

(Increase/OriginalCost) * 100

=(40/160)*100 = (1/4)*100=25\%

Hence, 25% is the % increase in medical premiums

19)
Simple Interest is given by the formula

SimpleInterest=Principal*Rate*TimePeriod

Here, the principal is $6000, the rate is 9% per year, which can be written as 0.09, and the time period is 2(years)

Simple Interest, will therefore be

SimpleInterest=6000*0.09*2=1080dollars

Total amount to be repaid will be the sum of simple interest and Principal, that is

Total \ Amount \ to \ be \ repaid = SimpleInterest + Principal

Total \ Amount \ to \ be \ repaid = 6000+1080=7080dollars

20)

Jayne's salary last year was $52000. A 3% increase in that will be

3\%*52000=0.03*52000=1560 dollar increase in salary

Also, the total salary will be Intial Salary+Increase=52000+1560=\$53560
