Answer #1

Ans :-

Molarity of standard NaOH solution is NOT mentioned. Variation in the molarity of standard will cause variation in [HCL]. However, the principle remains the same and can be used to make calculation under all conditions. The following assumption are made-

#1. The stock solution of HCl is 11.65 M (Concentrated HCl)

#2. The standard NaOH solution = 1.00 M

Part 1: Preparation of standard HCl solution.

Measure 6.0 mL concentrated (stock solution) and transfer it to 100-mL standard volumetric flask. Carefully make the final volume upto the mark with distilled water. It is advised to place the flask on a ice bath while making up the volume.

Part 2: Standardization of HCl solution using standard NaOH solution (1.00 M)

NaOH(aq) + HCl(aq) -----> H2O(aq) + NaCl(aq)

Stoichiometry: 1 mol NaOH neutralizes 1 mol HCl

Using

M1= molarity of initial solution 1, V1= volume of initial solution 1      ;(standard NaOH solution)

M2= molarity of final solution 2, V2= volume of final solution 2        ;(HCL solution)

Where,

M1 (molarity of standard NaOH solution) = 1.00 M

V1 (Volume of NaOH taken for titration) = 5.0 mL

Vol. of 0.699 M HCl used

(V2)

M1V1 (NaOH) = M2V2 (of HCl)

M2 (of HCl) = M1V1 / V2

Trial 1

8.43

M2 = (1.0 M x 5.0 mL) / 8.43 mL

       = 0.59 M

Trial 2

8.02

M2 = (1.0 M x 5.0 mL) / 8.02 mL

       = 0.62 M

Trial 3

8.00

M2 = (1.0 M x 5.0 mL) / 8.00 mL

       = 0.63 M

Thus,

Trial 1, [HCl]    = 0.59 M

Trial 2, [HCl]    = 0.62 M

Trial 3, [HCl]    = 0.63 M

Mean = 0.61 M

SD = 0.0208
