(a) Besides the "Shop," how else does Barcelona try to maximize employee fit?

Besides the "shop" Barcelona can help determine job fit by offering the applicant a walk through of the restaurants, or the ability to shadow a worker for an hour or so. This will help the applicant engage with the work, and to determine if the pace and type of work aligns with their expectations as well as their personality.

I think they have a great strategy of employee fitment. The employees always need to match the certain level of quality in the business. And in customer service, customer is the king, so the king well deserves good service

The 3 stage process of the employee fitment

1. Interviewing the candidate

2. The shop strategy

3. 6 months in the job: The employee is to pretend as if he/she is in the job for 6 months, showing their true skills.

  • Commanding the floor
  • Making Guests as friends
  • Talking to the staff, just as they would
  • Showing what they would be as a 6 month old

If they do well on above 3, then talks begin for the job

(b) What other suggestions do you have for the company to improve new hires' fit with the job and organization?

The other suggestions to help improve new hires fit with the job and organization would include new hire orientation, and a defined training program. The reason for this is that new hire orientation can help one dive into a firms culture and environment, along with quickly ensuring that there is a good job fit. This will also give the new hire the chance to change any behaviors to help better align with the firm.

Company can improve new hires’ fit with the job and organization by using following strategies :

a. Pre-selection process must include situational judgement test, culture fit assessment etc to ensure that only those candidates are been selected who can fit with the job and organization so that overall productivity, performance etc can be improved.

b. Organizations that invite candidates to visit the office before selecting them are in better position to know if the candidate can fit in the office while it helps to reduce turnover rate.

c. Making the job description and responsibilities clear with the new hire is necessary to let them know what exactly is been expected from them while trying to make them socialize with other employees will ensure they fit in with the job and organization easily.
