According to the Hardy-Weinberg equilibrium, both the allele & genotype frequencies of a population do not show variation over the next generation, and random mating of individuals does not affect via evolutionary processes such as mutations migrations, or selection, therefore, provides the evolutionary null hypothesis for a population.
