Answer #1

Progressive Era from 1890 till 1920 in America, was initiated by people from different walks of life such as journalists, politicians, social workers and educators who realised that America with its current state wouldn’t progress much. The cities were overcrowded with more European immigrants and I World war proved the worthy of Black people who fought at the war fronts with patriotism. They came together to introduce radical changes by addressing the need for a stronger America where equality and equal opportunities for all the races where insisted. The South was still not in a position to accept Blacks as equals and continued with their brutal treatments. African American leaders such as Booker T. Washington, W.E.B Du Bois, Ida B. Wells etc. and African movements such as National Association of Colored Women, Niagara Movement, National Association for the Advancement of Colored People, National Urban League etc. came into existence utilising the progressive era to fight injustice and inequality.
