Answer: On this earth, there is a different relationship between various species. It may be positive, negative and harmless because no organism lives in complete isolation. Amensalism is the type of relationship between organisms of two different species in which the growth of one organism is inhibited while the other organism remains unaffected without any cost. Amensalism is the asymmetrical competitive interaction.

Amensalism is mainly two types i.e. competition and antibiosis. In completion strong microorganism inhibit or eliminate the weaker organism from its source. Whereas in antibiosis one organism secretes a chemical which inhibits the growth of another organism while the organism which secretes chemical is remained unharmed.

E.coli and P. vulgaris show amensalism as both are the potential cause of urinary tract infection but in the presence of P. vulgaris the growth of E.coli is inhibited.
