Why do we use Hg vapor for fluorescent light instead of Neon? Why do fluorescent lights use phosphors?

Generally flourescent lamps, It can be ionised by Mercury vapore when there are in glass tube. This causes electrons in the gas to Emit photons at UV frequencies by going excitation of electrons . And conversion of uv light cannot be energy losses.

For producing pleasant light for eye we are using phosphor instead of flourescent lamp. It is used to convert uv light in to the visible-light radiation .this phosphor producing bluish white
