Concepts and reason

A reaction is given with the reactant and a reagent whose correct product needs to be formed. The reactant is an alkene molecule which is reacting with diborane in the presence of hydrogen peroxide. The reaction is commonly called as hydroboration oxidation reaction of alkene and result in the formation of an alcohol.

Alkenes generally reacts with the borane or diborane compounds and results in the addition reaction on double bonded carbon through syn addition. The addition reaction follows anti markovnikov’s rule, that is, negative part of the reagent gets attached to the carbon having more number of hydrogens as shown in the following example:
