1. Non pharmacological measures used for pain relief

               * Psychosocial therapy

                             * Provide emotional support to reduce anxiety level of patient to maintain comfort

                               which help to reduce pain.

              * Body massage

                             * Massages help to improve circulation to all part of the body which is useful in

                                reducing pain.

               * TENS (Transcutaneous electrical nerve stimulation)

                              * It is a type of electrical neurostimulation with the help of electric current produced

                                 by a device to stimulate nerves for pain relief.

                * Avoiding pressure over the wounded area through position change is useful to reduce pain.

2. Rise in temperature is an indicator of infections or complications of ulcers like sepsis,osteomyelitis

    so measuring body temperature is useful to identify the complications of non-healing pressure ulcer.

3. Nursing diagnosis

          * Acute pain related to non healing pressure ulcer.

    Treatment

           * Use of analgestics to reduce pain.

           * Physiotherapy to improve circulation and manage pain.

           * Topical pain relievers such as creams,lotions etc.

Nursing considerations

           * Assess the pain level of the patient using a pain scale and provide psychological support

             to control pain.

          * Apply wound dressings and reduce pressure over the wound by position change.

          * Provide body massage over back of the patient to reduce pain level.

          * Participate relatives in patient care and effective communication to reduce anxiety level

             of patient.

          * Promote patient to do muscle relaxation exercises to reduce pain level.
