Answer #1

a)The difference between the highest and lowest value of a dataset is known as range.

Highest value of the dataset=182.5

lowest value of the dataset=180.4

Range=182.5-180.4=2.1

Sample range=2.10C

b)The sample variance s2

Formula to find sample variance is

s^{2}=rac{sum (x-ar{x})^2}{N-1} where N is the total no.of observations

1 x-subtracted 1 180 from each observation :observation X |X-Xbar |(x-xbar) -1 -1 180.4 180.4 180.6 180.8 181.4 181.5 181.6 181.6 181.7 182.1 182.2 182.5 0.4 0.4 0.60.80.64 7 0.8 1.4 1.5 1.6 0.6 0 0.1 0.2 0.36 oi 0.01! 0.04! 1.60.20.04 21 0.7 0.49 12 1.70.3 0.09 13 2.2 2.5 0.641 1.21 5.52 0.8 15 1.1

5.52 12.0T where Σ(z-z)2 = 5.52 I

s2=0.5018

c)To find sample standard deviation s

we found s2=0.5018

Hence,0.5018

s=0.7084

d)s2 using the shortcut method formula which is given below

71 rl

s2 =(29.04-(16.8^2/12))/12-1

s2 =5.52/11

s2=0.5018
