Answer #1

vi = 23 m/s

and a = - 9.8 m/s^2

(A) Using vf^2 - vi^2 = 2 a d

v^2 - (23)^2 = 2(-9.8)(8.10)

v = 19.2 m/s

(B) vf = vi + a t

19.2 = 23 - 9.8t

t = 0.38 sec
