Question

A moveable, horizontal line shown in red is depicted in the simulation. The horizontal distance of the red line from the origin of the tape measure calibrated in meters is denoted in the simulation by the distance of the same red line from the origin of the tape calibrated in Mrs. Slocombes is denoted by Ls. The simulation also shows a plot of Ls versus, and the value of Ls corresponding to the location of the red line is displayed above the plot. The position of the red line can be adjusted by changing the slider labeledL Question 1 How many meters are equivalent to a length of 1.00 MS? ils, sacks..seenki ://% By accessing this Question Assistance, you will learn while you earn points based on the Point Potential Policy set by your instructor. calibrated in the SI unit of meter (m). The second tape measure is constructed by fans of British television; it is calibrated in a length unit known as the Mrs. Slocombe (MS). (The Mrs. Slocombe is equal to the length of a life-size waxwork of the beloved television character-including her large, colorful wig.) The lower portion of the graphic Comparing Two Lengths shows a top- down view of the roadway over the bridge and the two tape measures. The tapes are placed such that their origins do not overlap. The green strip represents the tape measure calibrated in meters, and the yellow strip represents the tape measure calibrated in Mrs. Slocombes. Answer #1

1. from the graph between Ls and Lm
   the graph can be defined as
   Ls = m*Lm + C

   when Ls = 4.5, Lm = 5
   when Ls = 7.5, Lm = 10
   hence

   4.5 = 5m + C
   7.5 = 10m + C

   => 9 = 10m + 2C
   1.5 = C
   hence

   4.5 = 5m + 1.5
   m = 3/5
   hence

   Ls = 0.6Lm + 1.5

   hence
   1 MS = 0.6 m, from slope of the graph
