Answer #1

Balanced reaction is

2 NH4ClO4\to N2 + Cl2 + 2O2 + 4H2O

Mole ratio of NH4ClO4 : Cl2 = 2:1

Mass of ammonium perchlorate = 7.7 g.

Molar mass of ammonium perchlorate = 117.5 g/mol

Moles of ammonium perchlorate = ( mass /molar mass)

= (7.7/117.5)

= 0.065

So, moles of Chlorine gas can be formed

= (0.065/2)

= 0.0325

Mass of chlorine gas is formed = moles× molar mass

= 0.0325 (mol) × 71 (g/mol)

= 2.3 g ( 2 significant digits)
