1. Order dose Timentin 3.1 gm every 6 hours.

The Timentin is dissolved in 100 ml of D5W and to be infused over 1 hour.

The drop factor is 2 gtt/ml means 20 drops in 1ml

The formula is  (Total Volume in ml\div Time in Min)\times drop factor

So, (100ml\div 60 min)\times 20 = 33.33 drops /min

The IVBP should program in 33drops per minute

Order dose is insulin IV at a rate of 8units per hour.

Concentration is 50 units in 100 ml of 0.9% ns

It means 1 unit is in 2ml (100ml\div 50units = 2ml)

Order rate was 8 units per hour So, 8 units \times 2ml = 16 ml

Then the pump rate will be 16ml per hour
