Question

For C i think my professor is trying to say that NaOH deprotonates the alpha hydrogen that produces either the thermodynamic or kinetic product, and the hydrogen being deprotonated has a box around it. I thought that NaOH protonates the thermodynamic product, but wouldnt the product of this deprotomation be the kinetic product, as a resonance form of the enate anon produces would contain a monosubbed double bond whereas deprotonatoning the orher alpha hydrogen would lead to a resonance form with disubbed dounle bond?
