As a new graduate nurse mentor in the practice setting you understand that parts of the assessments used by the examiner for the breast and male genitalia are very similar to the health promotion teaching done for self-breast and self-testicular exams. One of the new graduates you are mentoring has to teach one of her patients about a self-breast exam and another patient about self-testicular exam. The nurse is very nervous about discussing this kind of education and has never done it before.

Answer: In nursing profession it is important to take care of the patients. And teaching is one of the part that nurse has to provide. It is important to encourage the nurse to participate in this scenario. Disease can occur in any body part of patient and examination of the genital as well as breast is a part of self examination. It is better to have early examination rather than late treatment. So, nurse should be professionally concern regarding this.

Although in some culture people doesn't feel comfortable in these kind of checkups. It is important to encourage patients and elevate the awareness among them.

So, self examination as well as being conscious regarding the disease, any kind of symptoms is important. Nurse should handle these situations professionally to enhance the quality of living of patients by decreasing the risk of disease.
