So, choose a card of the 52 cards, in 52C1 ways. Then out of the remaining 51 cards, only 3 will be of the same kind. So, you can pick from those 3 cards, a card in 3C1 ways

So, 52C1*3C1 / 52C2 is the probability of getting a "pair".

So, probability of getting a pair is 52C1*3C1 / 52C2 = 0.1177
