A mentally competent, elderly patient suffering form congestive heart failure presents a DNR order when admitted to the hospital. He also talks with his attending physician about his end of life care, asking for comfort care only.The physician concurs and records the patients wishes on his chart. The patients daughter arrives from out of state and loudly overrides her fathers wishes. As a member of the mans health care team, what do you and others on the team do? Explain why?

Answer: As a healthcare professional, it is our duty to take care and manage the health of the patient. The health of the patient is the first priority for us. But if patient makes a sudden unusual wish, so we should make him understand and boost up his moral support and introduce a positive vibe to him. No one can alter the patient wish for the better treatment if the patient is not comforted with the treatment he may ask the alternative method to be used.
