Question

There is a vertical tube of radius R1 opening through the center to a flat horizontal circular disk of radius R2 above another identical disk. There is a distance d separating both disks of R2 . A liquid of density p (rho) is flowing through the vertical tube and out between the disks. When the height of the fluid is h, what is the speed of the fluid streaming out between the disks? No energy is lost in the flow of fluid.RI 2

Thankfully, you were able to reconnect your air tube before you lost consciousness. After such a stressful situation, you decided to take a vacation. On your vacation, you are sitting on a beach on Earth drinking a cocktail (a non-alcoholic one, of course). It's one of those fancy drinks with a straw, as shown below on the left. As an engineer who is fascinated by fluid flow, you start wondering about the velocity profiles within the fluid that you create...

Task 8 6 Pts A so called "flow straightener" is arranged in a tube to produce a flat velocity profile, independent of the profile which is created by the flow. The straightener consist of a package of parallel-arranged thin tubes with small inner diameter, which fills out the entire cross section of the hosting tube (see fig. 1). Here a special design of the straightener is used: it consists of 50 tubes with quadratic cross section (0.025 0.025 m²) and...
