Health care policy how does staffing impact Mrsa, operational side staffing ratios, are roles compliant, hand washing audits, systemic issues- regulation on hand washing antimicrobial stewardship program? Incidents of mrsa increasingly growing- running out of antibiotics.
MRSA (Methicillin Resistant Staphylococcus Aureus) is a hospital acquired infection due to poor hand hygiene practice.
The staffing impacts the MRSA in the following way
They are resistant to antibiotic so treating them is a challenge. As it is a common form of skin infection a bath with microbat and use of T-Bact ointment around nares, axilla, groin is a must for five days followed by checking on 7th day if negative discontinue treatment if positive bath and ointment for two more days and a rechecknis done.
To prevent this a proper audit for handwashing has to be conducted regularly.
The antimicrobial stewardship program also insist on hand hygiene or hand washing combined with infection control practices. The use of broad spectrum antimicrobial is recommended to combat this resistance.
