Answer #1

Temperature of oven = 267 oC

Explanation

According to Gay-Lussac's law, absolute temperature of an ideal gas is directly proportional to its pressure, provided amount of gas and volume remains constant.

Mathematically, T2 / P2 = T1 / P1

where T1 = initial temperature of gas = temperature of ice bath = 0.0oC = 273 K

P1 = initial pressure of gas = 387 torr

T2 = final temperature of gas = temperature of oven

P2 = final pressure of gas = 765 torr

Substituting the values,

T2 / (765 torr) = (273 K) / (387 torr)

T2 = (273 K) * (765 torr / 387 torr)

T2 = (273 K) * (1.9767)

T2 = 537.65

T2 = 267 oC
