If you are using pneumatic trough, then the answer is option-4) the gas will be captured in the water-filled container by displacing the water.

The gas has low density and hence it difficult to collect the gas and find its mass. The gas is bubbled in the container and as it enters the container it displaces the water in it. Thus using this collected gas we can measure the volume of gas and from that, we can calculate number of moles.

PV = nRT

Where, P = Pressure of the gas V = Volume of water displaced n = number of moles of gas R = the ideal gas constant T = the temperature of the gas
