This change leaves a narrow lumen “(string sign)’, which may become totally obstructed. Granulomas indictive of chronic inflammation may be found in the wall and the regional lymph nodes. The damage wall impairs the ability of the small intestine to process and absorb food, The inflammation also stimulates intestinal motility, decreasing the time available for digestion and absorption.
