1.Word root refers to the main part or simply it generally involves the parts or organs which is affected like heart,lung,liver,pancreas etc.

Suffix refers to the one which is followed by the word root and describing it like inflammation, oozing ,opening etc..,

Eg:Pancreatitis

Here Pancreas is the word root and the itis is referring its inflammation. Hence it describes the inflammation of the pancreas

2.The combining form in medical terminology is so simple to understand that it the formation of a main or root word with a vowel

Eg.,Nephrology (study of renal system )

Here nephro is the combining word and logy refers to study of the nephro or kidney. This combining word with suffix is linked by vowel "O"

3.Here the combining form word root and suffix or connected with the vowel "O"

Eg.,Cardiomyopathy

Here cardio(heart) is the combining word ,myo(muscle) is the root word and pathy(disease) is the suffix
