Topic: Does more protein in your food mean more muscle in you?

Seems like everyone at the gym is doing it: filling up on protein to bulk up those biceps. But it's a misconception. Eating additional protein really doesn't do much toward boosting your bulk and quality.

Indeed, restorative research demonstrates that devouring excessively protein - over 30% of your aggregate day by day caloric admission - could really hurt your body, says protein master Gail Butterfield, PhD, RD, chief of Nutrition Studies at the Palo Alto Veterans' Administration Medical Center and nourishment speaker at Stanford University.

She says that an eating routine containing abundance protein can have the accompanying unfavorable impacts:

  • Adding more protein but not more calories or exercise to your diet won't help you build more muscle mass, but it may put your other bodily systems under stress.
  • Eating more protein and expanding complete caloric admission while keeping up a similar exercise level will construct an equivalent measure of extra fat and bulk, as per an examination distributed in 1992 in the Journal of the American Geriatrics Society.
