Answer #1

2C10H7OH + 23O2 ---------> 20CO2 + 8H2O combustion reaction

2 x 144.17 g napthol gives 20 x 44 g CO2

0.00462 g (4.62 mg) gives 0.00462 x 20 x 44 / 2 x 144.17 = 0.0141 g = 14.1 mg

mass of CO2 formed = 14.1 mg

2 x 144.17 g napthol gives 8 x 18 g H2O

0.00462 g napthol gives 0.00462 x 8 x 18 / 2 x 144.17 = 0.0023 g = 2.3 mg H2O

mass of H2O formed = 2.30 mg
