Question

QUESTION 10 Two methods, Method A and Method B, are used to audit accounts. To compare these two methods 10 pairs of auditors are chosen randomly according to year of experience one member of eac then applies method A and the other member applies Method B. The following data are the number h pair of accounts each pair audited per hour: Method A 107 | 98 | 75 | 69- 59 6818718588 93 MethodB 6482167 64 60 63 85 84 85 83 ー Assume that the differences between the number of accounts audited by each pair are di normally Which one of the following statements is incorrect? 1. The critical value at 1% is 2.821. 2. The rejection region at 1% level of significance is t > 2.821. 3. The standard error for the u -a -u is 4.06. 4. The test statistic is 2.2629. 5. At 1% level of significance whether more accounts were audited using Method A than when using Method B, Ho is not rejected. 19

Answer #1

D 9.2 sD 12.856 (1) Null and Alternative otheses The following null and alternative hypotheses need to be tested This corresponds to a right-tailed test, for which a t-test for two paired samples be used 2) Rejection Region Based on the information provided, the significance level is a 0.01, and the degrees of freedom are df 9 Hence, it is found that the critical value for this right-tailed test is tc-2.821, for α 0.01 and df 9 The rejection region for this right-tailed test is R t t2.821 (3) Test Statistics The t-statistic is computed as shown in the following formula 9.2 2.263 sD/Vn 12.856/V10 4) Decision about the null hypothesis Since it is observed that t 2.263 te 2.821, it is then concluded that the null hypothesis is not rejected Using the P-value approach: The p-value is p 0.025, and since p 0.0250.01, it is concluded that the null hypothesis is not rejected (5) Conclusion It is concluded that the null hypothesis Ho is not rejected. Therefore, there is not enough evidence to claim that the population mean μ is greater than μ2, at the 0.01 significance level

standard error = sd(D)/sqrt(n) = 12.856/sqrt(10) = 4.0654 = 4.07
TS = 2.2629

p-value < 0.01

hence Ho is not rejected

critical value = 2.821

rejection region = TS > 2.821

all options seems to be correct

however standard error when rounded to 2 decimal is 4.07 and not 4.06

option 3) is incorrect
