Answer #1

Order magnesium sulphate.

Dose = 4 gram over 5 mins.

Drip rate= 60 drops/ ml.

Converting gram to mg

4g = 4000 mg.

Available concentration= 400 mg / ml.

The total fluid that is needed is.

Needed dose/ dose on hand*Quantity.

= 4000 mg / 400 mg * 1ml.

= 10 ml.

The total fluid that is needed is 10 ml.

Drop factor= 60.( given)

Time = 5 mins.( given)

Total fluid. X Drop factor / time( in mins.)

= 10 ml X 60 ( drop factor). / 5 minutes.

= 120 drops / min.

If 60 drops = 1 ml,

Then, 120 drops= 2 ml.

Hence, 2 ml/min OR  120 drops/min will be given.
