1.acid -fast bacilli smear. ....this yet is used to detect tuberculosis..it refers to the microscopic examination of a flurochrome strain of a clinical specimen

2.PPD (purified protein derivative) skin test.....determine the tuberculosis. mycobacterium tuberculosis is spread into the fluid of skin ...so this test detect the Tuberculosis in the body.

3. arterial blood gas (ABG) this test detect the oxygen and carbon dioxide levels in the blood ...blood is drawn from the radial artery and some times femoral artery.

4. chest CT scan....used to find the lung cancer, tumors etc

5. pulse oximeter measures oxygen in the blood.

6. chest X ray (CXR) used for heart, lungs,bones and spine

7. pulmonary function test...(PFTs)...this is used for respiratory functions like lung volume, capacity, rates of flow, gases exchange.

8. ventilation- perfusion scan(PQ) is used to detect the pulmonary embolism, abdominal circulation in the blood vessels of lungs.
