Answer #1

The ions are F- , Mg+2 , Na+, N-3 and O-2

In cations, the nucleus charge ( +ve charge) is increases, the size of the ion decreases because the attractive power of nucleus over the electron cloud is increases. So, the size the ion is contraction. Hence, the radius is decreases.

Among Na+ and Mg+2 ions, Mg+2 is smaller size than Na+.

In anions, the negative charge is increases on the ion , the size of the ion is increases because when an electron is added to the atom, the electron density is increases in the outermost orbit. So,the repulsive forces are acting the among the newly added electron and already present electrons. Hence, the size of the ion is expand. i,e size of the anion is increases.[ The radius is increases]

among F-. O-2 and N-3 ions, N-3 is bigger ion.

The size of the cation is smaller than the size of anion.

The order is

N-3   Largest radius

O-2

F-

Na+

Mg+2 smallest radius
