A skier of mass 50.9 kilograms is racing down a hill with an angle of incline of 20.1 degrees. Ignore air resistance and all other types of friction. Yes, I know that is silly. Wait for the next question. What is the acceleration in metres per second squared of the skier?

Answer #1

Given,

m = 50.9 kg ; theta = 20.1 deg

We know when there is no friction, the acceleration of mass on an inclined plane is given by:

a = g sin(theta)

a = 9.8 sin20.1 = 3.37 m/s^2

Hence, a = 3.37 m/s^2
