Question

A circular loop of wire of radius 5cm lies in the plane of the page. There is magnetic pointing into the page increasing at a rate of 0.01T/s. This results in an EMF in the loop of:

a. 7.9 x 10-5 V in the clockwise direction looking into the page.

b. 7.9 x 10-5 V in the counter-clockwise direction looking into the page.

c. 0.01 V in the clockwise direction looking into the page.

d. 0.01 V in the counter-clockwise direction looking into the page.

Answer #1

Induce emf = - change in flux/time

Flux = B.A

A= pi x r^2= 3.14 x 0.05 x 0.05= 0.00785m^2

Induced emf = 0.00785x 0.01= 7.85 x 10^-5 V

Direction = counter - clockwise

So option b
