Acquired brain injury refers to damage to brain post-birth. It is generally caused by alcohol or drug use, oxygen deprivation, or blows to head. The consequences of acquired brain injuries are physical, cognitive, behavioral or emotional impairments which subsequently may lead to permanent or temporary changes in brain function.
