Formula for operating income :

Operating Income = Revenues - Variable Costs - Fixed costs

Now, the target operating income is $60,000 after tax of 40%

Let X be the number of units sold to earn target operating income (Target OI)

Target OI = 100 X - 40 X - $12,000

$60,000 = 60 X - $12,000

$72,000 = 60 X

X = $1,200
