Answer #1

1)

A)

Wavelength is more for infrared light

Answer: infrared

B)

Frequency is more for the one which has lesser wavelength.

So, ultraviolet has greater frequency.

Answer: ultraviolet

C)

Energy is more for the one which has greater frequency.

So, ultraviolet has greater energy.

Answer: ultraviolet

2)

Absorption:

For absorption, electron moves from lower energy state to higher energy state.

1, 2 and 3 are absorption.

n=1 to n=3

n=3 to n=5

Emission:

For emission, electron moves from higher energy state to lower energy state.

n=2 to n=1

n=3 to n=2

    05 Question (4 points) When a hydrogen atom absorbs a photon of electromagnetic radiation (EMR), the internal energy of the atom increases and one or more electrons may be energized into an excited state. The release of this extra energy as the excited state electron transitions back to a lower energy state results in the emission of a photon. These energy changes are responsible for the emission spectrum of hydrogen (shown below) and are described by the Bohr equation. AE...
