Question

You rubbed a neutral balloon on your neutral head so that both acquired an excess charge. Then you charged a neutral ebonite rod by rubbing it on the balloon. When you were done with all that rubbing, the net charge on your head was Qhead +192.2 nC, and that on the rod was Qrod-30.44 nC. Assume that the three objects didnt touch anything else (a) Which of the following statements accurately express the Law of Charge Conservation in this situation? (b) What is the net charge on the balloon? Qbalilon nC (c) How did the number of charged particles on each object change? Answer #1

(a)

from law of conservation of charge total charge is constant

initially total charge is zero

after rubbing also total charge is zero

Qhead + Qballoon + Qrod = 0

=========================

(b)

Qballoon = -Qhead - Qrod

Qballon = -192.2 + 30.44 = -161.76 nC

=======================

(c)

The number of negative particles on your head is decreased by 192.2 nC

The number of negative particles on the rod is increased by 30.44 nC

The number of negative particles on the balloon is increased by 161.76 nC

    A 0.00230-kilogram air inflated balloon is given an excess negative charge, q1--3.25 x 108 C, by rubbing it with a blanket. It is found that a charged rod can be held above the balloon at a distance of d 0.0600 m to make the balloon float. In order for this to occur, what polarity of charge must the rod possess? How much charge, q2, does the rod have? Assume the balloon and rod to be point charges. The Coulomb force...

    Please read the article and answer about questions. You and the Law Business and law are inseparable. For B-Money, the two predictably merged when he was negotiat- ing a deal for his tracks. At other times, the merger is unpredictable, like when your business faces an unexpected auto accident, product recall, or government regulation change. In either type of situation, when business owners know the law, they can better protect themselves and sometimes even avoid the problems completely. This chapter...
