Health literacy is a person's ability to read and understand literature and the information about procedures and illnesses they may be experiencing. When the individuals are not having a better financial background the literacy rate will have dramatic decrease whereby it lacks understanding impacts the patients ability to play an active role in their own health care. Health literacy lead to many health disparities because people with lower level of education will be lack a good SOCIO economic status. Thus literacy completely rely on the person's financial status.

The goals in improving health literacy are:

# literacy to all the people

# delivering patient centered information and education

# supports life long skills in learning to promote good health.
