FIRST AID : Joe should immediately follow the first aid measures.

  • Place the punctured finger under the running water and allow it to bleed.
  • Wash the finger with soap and water. Do not suck the wound.
  • Dry the wound and apply dressing.
  • Inform the authority and report about the injury.
  • Mrs. Conners should be tested for HIV,Hepatitis B and C infections after getting the consent.
  • Joe should also be tested for HIV,Hepatitis B and C infections immediately and confidentially.

Yes,Incident report is very much necessary to perform risk assessments and to take measures for reducing the danger for health care worker and patient.
