You have received a court order directing your facility to provide all information held on Janet Stevenson, an HIM employee. In addition, to the records held in Ms. Stevenson's personal file, you have numerous e-mails between yourself (Director of HIM) and your supervisor regarding Ms. Stevenson. Would this order compel you to release this information?

In case of a order from court or from a judge all the necessary and relevant documents has to be released. It is not mandatory to release personal information though it is legally permitted without the consent of the individual. In case if consent is not possible ,then it has to be approved under 251 (National Health Service Act 2006) for disclosure of most confidential information. Therefore this order under proper guidance and organizational rules and regulations with policies can be released in accordance to the court's order.
