Lasix is a brand name of furosemide. Furosemide is diuretics that help to remove extra water from the body by increasing urine production.

lasix mainly use in heart failure and kidney failure but sometimes it is used in high blood pressure to lower blood pressure.

Routes - It is used in tablet form for oral route

it is also used in injection form for the intravenous route(IV).

Sometimes it also used intramuscularly

Dose

Adult dose for Congestive Heart Failure, renal failure, nephrotic syndrome, Generalized edema, liver cirrhosis, and ascites -

IV - 20 to 40 mg initial dose, You can repeat the dose after 2 hours if the desired outcome is not achieved.

Oral - 20 to 80mg initial dose, you can repeat the dose 8 hourly if the desired outcome is not achieved.

Adult dose for Pulmonary edema - 40 mg IV initial dose if the desired outcome is not achieved then 80 mg after 1 hour.

Adult dose for Hypertension - 20 to 40 mg orally twice daily.

Pediatric dose for edema -

IV/IM - 1mg/kg initial dose if the desired outcome is not achieved then increase to 2mg/kg.

Oral - 2mg/kg/day initial dose, if the desired outcome is not achieved then increase to up to 4mg/kg/day.
