Answer #1

Supplemental liquidity providers operate off the floor of the stock exchange and actively participate in the stocks that are assigned to them. They add liquidity to the market on certain stocks that are assigned to them. They work off the floor of the exchange electronically via sophisticated computers to create the desired liquidity.  They are compensated for providing services either in the form of fees or a financial rebate by the NYSE. They were created after the collapse of the LEHMAN BROTHERS, to alleviate the crisis of a liquidity crunch in the markets. A SLP can be a registered market maker.

So, the correct option is option 4.
