why is ethyl acetate a good choice as organic solvent for separating benzoin and benzoic acid...

If acetaminophen is used in a TLC experiment with 100 % ethyl acetate as the solvent system, explain in terms of polarity why the spot would move fast or slow up the TLC plate?
If aspirin (acetylsalicylic acid) is used in a TLC experiment with 1:1 Hexanes / Ethyl acetate as the solvent system, explain in terms of polarity why the spot would move fast or slow up the TLC plate?
why is it that benzoin sample often show traces of benzoic acid as an impurity whereas the benzoic acid doesn’t generally show traces of benzoin as an impurity?
Which is the most polar of each solvent pair? Toluene or Ethyl Acetate? Methanol or DCM (dichloromethane)? Benzene or Phenol? Benzoic acid or Cyclohexane?
Ethyl acetate is a popular solvent in organic chemistry laboratories. What are the potential health hazards of this solvent? Would you consider dichloromethane more or less hazardous?

Hello there, I did an extraction of caffeine organic lab experiment. Why is ethyl acetate used for extracting caffeine and not other solvents? I know that ethyl acetate, caffeine, and water are polar but why are two layers formed after mixing caffeine in water and ethyl acetate? I'm a little confused. I thought that polar mixes with polar and nonpolar mixes with nonpolar. Is caffeine not polar? Is ethyl acetate soluble in water? Please explain. Thank you very much! :)
3. TLC analysis of an unknown sample using pure ethyl acetate as a developing solvent gives a single spot with an Rf value of 0.08 1 points A. Explain why this result does not guarantee that the sample is a pure compound. B. Suggest two changes that could be made to the experiment to improve the analysis of the unknown sample. 2 points Change 1 Change 2
4) A solution of ethyl acetate contains the following three organic acids: phenol (pka = 10.0), benzoic acid (pka = 4.2), and 4-aminophenol (pkg = 10.3). For each of the compounds below, outline a procedure using acid/base extraction that will isolate the given compound from the mixture. 4 points a. 4-Aminophenol b. Benzoic acid
