Answer #1

9)

1 mol of Fe(OH2)6 3+ has 19 atoms

So,

Mol of atoms = mol of compound * 19

= 0.139 * 19

= 2.641 mol

use:

number of atoms = number of moles * Avogadro’s number

= 2.641 * 6.022*10^23 atoms

= 1.59*10^24 atoms

Answer: D

10)

Molar mass of CO2,

MM = 1*MM(C) + 2*MM(O)

= 1*12.01 + 2*16.0

= 44.01 g/mol

mass(CO2)= 52.06 g

use:

number of mol of CO2,

n = mass of CO2/molar mass of CO2

=(52.06 g)/(44.01 g/mol)

= 1.183 mol

use:

number of molecules = number of mol * Avogadro’s number

number of molecules = 1.183 * 6.022*10^23 molecules

number of molecules = 7.122*10^23 molecules

Count of each element in compound is:

{C=1, O=2}

Total number of C atoms in 1 molecule = 1

use:

number of C atoms = number of molecules * Total number of C atoms in 1 molecule

= 7.122*10^23 * 1

= 7.122*10^23

Answer: C
