Answer #1

Calculation of Double bond equalent (DBE) for C9H10O

For C9 saturated hydrogens = 20H

For C9 molecular formula hydrogens = 10

H

DBE = saturated hydrogens - molecular formula hydrogens/2

= 20-10/2

= 5

It indicates it consists of 4 double bonds + 1 cyclic ring.

Based on C*13 NMR spectrum the probable structure is

4-ethyl benzaldehyde.

Type a carbon chemical shift value 200 ppm,

Type (b) carbon chemical shift value 30 ppm,

Type (c) carbon chemical shift value 15 ppm,

Type (d) carbon chemical shift value 150 ppm,

Type (g) carbon chemical shift value 135 ppm,

Type (e) carbon chemical shift value 130 ppm,

Type (F) carbon chemical shift value 125 ppm.
