Discuss the methods our brain uses to determine the location of high-frequency sound and of low-frequency sound. Discuss why we need two different methods of sound localization.
The capacity to localising the sound depends on the two mechanism-
1. low frequency sound- mechanism- it involves the fact that sound coming from a source arrives at our ears at slightly different times.
Low frequency sound that comes from the noise making sources will enter the near ear first then it will bend around the head and will reach to the far ear a short time later than the the first ear.
so in this mechanism brain executes quick computation of sound for the location of sound.
2 high frequency sound - if a sounds comes from one side then nearer ear will hear it more loudly than the other and we can detect the location based on the differences of loudness of the sound in each ear.
high pitch sound involve the intensity differences through the sound waves travels to the ear. high frequency sound waves do not band around the head like low frequency sound ,this waves directly reflect off at the surface of head. Because of this a sound which is coming from one side of the head will get the sound at greater intensity to nearer ear then another ear.
so in this mechanism brain uses intensity differences of sound.
two different methods of sound is important for the following reasons-
brain uses mechanism of intensity diferences, time differences, locationisation of sounds for giving natural and comfortable listening experiences.
it gives the security during traffic , we can easily identify the sound through the intensity and localization of sound and can prevent from accidental injury during driving, riding or cycling.

High-frequency sound waves exhibit less diffraction than low-frequency sound waves do. However, even high frequency sound waves exhibit much more diffraction under normal circumstances than do light waves that pass through the same opening. The highest frequency that a healthy ear can typically hear is 2.0 × 104 Hz. Assume that a sound wave with this frequency travels at 342 m/s and passes through a doorway that has a width of 1.2 m. (a) Determine the angle that locates the...
Discuss why you believe we have such a high prevalence of sexual assault in our society.
Discuss the pros and cons of these methods of financial statement analysis: ratio analysis, vertical analysis, and horizontal analysis. What do they tell us? Why do we need so many different methods?

Lump sum hard bid and construction management project delivery methods have different communication requirements. Discuss the differences in type and frequency of formal, informal, verbal communication, and meetings for the two delivery methods. Then, discuss the differences in staffing needs and organizational structures that would be influenced by these differing communication needs.
Consider a cascade system that uses vapor compression refrigeration for both high and low temperature cycles. Saturated vapor ammonia enters the compressor in the low temperature cycle at 20 psi and exits at 90 psi as it enters the heat exchanger. R134a enters the compressor in the high temperature cycle at 20oF and a quality of 0.84, and exits at 120 psi as it enters the high temperature condenser. Given a refrigeration capacity of 10 tons, determine: Ratio of the...
Determine the bandwidth for a seismic instrument employed as an accelerometer having a seismic mass of 0.2 g and a spring constant of 20,000 N/m, with very low damping. Discuss the advantages of a high natural frequency and a low damping ratio. Piezoelectric sensors are well suited for the construction of accelerometers, since they possess these characteristics
Determine the transfer function for a 2nd order Chebyshev low pass filter with 3dB frequency of 100krad/sec, a maximum gain of OdB, and a passband ripple of 1dB. (40 points) (a) (b) A bandpass filter is made by cascading the filter described in part (a) with a 2nd order Chebyshev high pass filter with 3dB frequency of 1krad/sec, a maximum gain of OdB and passband ripple of 2dB. Determine the midband gain of the filter. (30 points) A Chebyshev bandpass...
Start the Sound (uses Java) simulation (opens in a new window). Select the Measure" tab at the top left corner of your simulation window. Set the frequency to 200 Hz (once you click on the frequency button you can use the left and right arrow keys on your keyboard to decrease/increase the frequency to the desired value). Also set the amplitude to maximum. The waves are very now well defined. Pause the simulation. There are two blue lines that you...
Support Slip-Ons Inc, a manufacturer of men's dress shoes, uses the high low method to estimate cost behaviors. In its current manufacturing operations, three different cost types are incurred: A, B, and C. Per unit costs for each cost type at two different activity levels are as follows: А B C 5.000 pairs of shoes 7.500 pairs of shoes $4,00 $6.00 $3.00 $4,00 $9.00 $4.00 If 6,000 pairs of shoes are produced, the total manufacturing costs would be: Select one:...
