Discussion Question #1: A young woman recently certified and employed as a medical assistant was well-groomed and knowledgeable when she appeared for her employment interview. Immediately after the woman began work, she changed her appearance markedly. During her first week on the job, she reported for work with bright blue streaks in her hair, which had been cut from shoulder length to very short. In addition, she now had an eyebrow stud, a nose stud, and a butterfly tattoo on her neck. The supervisor who had interviewed and hired the woman was appalled. In your opinion, what should the supervisor do because she was obviously not pleased with the changes in her new hire? Should the medical assistant have changed her appearance in this way? Why or why not?

Answer- Firstly the answer is no the medical assistant should not have changed her appearance. Lets quickly jump into the reason ,so there is this very famous saying that "FIRST IMPRESSION IS THE LAST IMPRESSION" as the supervisor took the girl's interview she might have imagined her how she portrayed herself in the interview. If I was at the place of the supervisor who took her interview it would have not pleased me at all because when the supervisor took her interview she was someone else like ,well groomed girl with no blue streaks in her hair, no eyebrow stud, no nose stud and no butterfly tattoo on her neck ,the person who came to the job after one week was someone else with all these things mentioned above. It's not about the assistant's choice the supervisor did not have anything to do with her personal desires but she might have had a problem because she saw a sudden change in just one week after she got the job , if the girl would have come to give the interview in the same way then the supervisor would not have been horrid This just shows that just for getting the job the girl has to change her own self and after getting the job she transformed just within a week. Though it would be wrong to say that the interviewer is completely right ,as she gave her job because of her qualification and her talent not because of her physical appearance. But the medical assistant should have waited a little longer to transform herself, in that way the interviewer might not had been that appalled. Because in the end its all about your image in people's mind and it's upto you how you maintain it. I would like to suggest that girl to talk to the supervisor and apologize to her for this sudden and unexpected change, and focus more on her work . And the supervisor should forgive her and give her a chance to prove her ability based on her qualifications and harwork because there is also a famous saying that " NEVER JUDGE A BOOK BY ITS COVER".
