Answer #1

The key factors for opiod crisis are Over-Prescribing, Targeted marketing and need for re education.

  • The major reason for the opioid epidemic can be traced back to the over-prescribing of these drugs to treat pain by doctors rather than seeking alternative treatments. Usually pain drugs are covered under insurance that adds to its prescription chances, making it an easy alternative.
  • The marketing techniques of the pharmaceutical companies, without proper research back up also became a key factor for opiod crisis. The targeted doctors are offered prices like gifts and monetary supports by the pharmaceutical companies to increase the prescriptions.
  • There is a need for re education to the upcoming doctors and medicos is another key factor in the crisis. They need to be trained to properly identify pain and its treatment and realizing that there are far more therapeutic measures to deal with pain than opiods.

The opiods have proven to be deadly for the current American youth, as the drug addictions are very common and people leave in a high stress world. And easy accessibility of these drugs to any community is a major threat.

The major threat is the over prescription effect for any pain or injury, and people tend to be addicted.

When the youth have a stress or crisis situation like a job loss or a relationship change, they start depending on drugs and get to be addicted soon. This also spreads from one person to his peers, due to peer influence.
