ANSWER:

The principle of multiplier does not work vigorously in an underdeveloped country such as India due to the inelastic nature of the consumption output curve. Also the value of the multiplier is limited by the consumption goods availability. Also the marginal propensity to consume is assumed to remain constant failing which the multiplier's value would be highly unstable. Moreover, to realize the full impact of the multiplier process, it is assumed that the nation should not have any trade relations with the outside world. When the economy is open to the rest of the world, export deficits and surpluses would make the value of the multiplier either smaller or greater than its true value respectively. Due to the above mentioned reasons economists argue on under-estimation and over-estimation of multiplier.

Would you expect this new spending to be sufficient to bridge the gap between actual and potential GDP? (In...

Compared to the first economist, the second economist must be assuming either a smaller induced increase in consumption, a larger crowding out effect, or both. B. Keynesian vs. Classical 1. We already know that politicians disagree on how to fix the economic problems. It's not just politicians, economists also disagree. When the recession hit back in December 2007, first President Bush then President Obama responded quickly with stimulus packages that included tax cuts and spending increases. Several economists such as Paul Krugman and Robert Reich backed this approach as they believed Keynesian policies would restore the insufficient demand and bring the economy back to full employment...
